Subimago, noun — the stage of development in an insect in which the insect is winged and capable of flight but not yet sexually mature. Occurs only in Mayflies (Ephemeroptera). With sexual maturity, the insect becomes an imago (Entz).
Featuring the work of 26 graduating BFA students in the Fine Arts. The exhibtiion highlights a selection of works across media ranging from painting, drawing, conceptual art, printmaking, photography and sculpture to new media and hybrid artforms presented across 2 galleries, A+D Gallery and C33 Gallery. A sample of the work can be seen at manifestbfa.virb.com and also in the exhibition catalog with an essay by Douglas Gabriel, “Unruly Subjects: On Multiplying Possibilities Through Subjugated Knowledges”.
This exhibition is a part of the college-wide Manifest Urban Arts Festival celebration and is sponsored by the Art + Design Department at Columbia College Chicago.
