BiographyFor more than twenty-five years, Carol Yamamoto has provided arts management counsel to philanthropic, governmental, commercial, and not-for-profit organizations ranging over a wide spectrum of organizational size and art forms. She was selected as a field consultant for the National Endowment for the Arts and as grants evaluator for the NEA, national and local private foundations, Illinois Arts Council, regional and local funding agencies. She has served as a board member and officer for social service, educational and not-for-profit arts organizations. Carol has given seminars and workshops for a variety of clients such as The Chicago Community Trust, KPMG, Literary Council of Magazines and Presses, DuPage County Community Foundation, Joyce Foundation, Great Lakes Arts Alliance, Arts Midwest, Texas Arts Council, and Washington State Arts Alliance. She is the former Assistant Development Director of the Seattle Opera, the former Marketing Director of the Texas Opera Theater and the former Manager of the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists.
Carol chaired Columbia’s Management Department from 1984 to 1990. In 2010, Carol became a full professor, the first faculty member to achieve that rank in the AEMM Department. She holds an MBA from UCLA, and a Bachelor in Music (Piano Performance) from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
