Biography

Steve Cole is the coordinator of the Music Business Concentration in the Arts Entertainment & Media Management Department. 

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Steve Cole studied music at Northwestern University, and business at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business where he earned his MBA. 

Initially classically trained, Steve had the honor of performing as soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the age of 18.  Despite his success in the classical realm, Cole opted to focus on his true musical loves, Jazz, Pop and R&B.

Before focusing on his music career, Steve worked in consulting and strategy development for Baxter International, and served as Director of Finance and Administration for the Sherwood Conservatory of Music.

Cole's solo career began in earnest in 1998 when he was signed to Atlantic Records.  On his four subsequent major label releases he has posted four #1 radio hits, received the prestigious Prism award for best new artist, and has been featured in numerous publications including Jazz Times, Radio & Records, and Billboard magazine.

An accomplished Musician, Writer and Producer, Steve is currently under contract as a recording artist with EMI/Blue Note, and as a writer with Universal Music Publishing where he as published over 50 works.
