Do internships cost money?
Internship credits cost the same as any other credit. Click here for current tuition rates.

Can an internship that I completed in the past count towards credit?
No. The internship is a controlled learning experience. Therefore, any work completed prior to the beginning of the semester in which the internship is registered cannot count towards credit.

Can I transfer in internship credit from my previous college?
No. Columbia does not accept these transfer credits.

Can I intern in the summer and register in the fall?
No. Internship credit must be registered with the AEMM department at the time of the internship. Summer internships must be registered during the summer semester.

Do I have to pick an internship that is specific to my concentration?
Most students complete internships in their area of concentration. However, if you have other interests, make an appointment with your internship coordinator to discuss what other opportunities may qualify.

If I am continuing my internship for more than one semester, can I still get credit?
Yes. You may receive up to six credits for a single internship experience. Remember that you need to register your continuance on time. Registration processes, procedures, and requirements do not differ for a continuance.

The GPA requirement is a 2.8. What should I do if I don’t have a good GPA?
Make an appointment with your internship coordinator to discuss your options.

What happens if I get fired from my internship?
Schedule an appointment with your internship coordinator immediately. You will work together to find an appropriate solution. Failing to notify your internship coordinator will result in a failing grade.
