AYCD Practicum Site
Practicum Site
A unique element of the AYCD program is that every graduate student
fulfills a practicum requirement at a host community-based organization
(CBO) throughout his or her participation in the Masters program.
Students are placed with CBOs for two years where they receive
mentorship and training in the practical skills needed to run an
organization. The CBOs that have been selected as practicum hosts are
situated in a variety of communities throughout Chicago, serving
low-income, underrepresented, and immigrant youth populations with
multidisciplinary arts programs in writing, performance, music, visual
art, public art, and digital technology.
Current practicum sites are:
- About Face Youth Theatre
- Association House of Chicago
- Chicago Children's Choir
- Chicago Public Art Group
- Free Street Programs
- The Great Black Music Project
- Little Black Pearl Workshop
- Music Theatre Workshop
- Najwa Dance Corps
- People's Music School
- Redmoon Theatre
- Snow City Arts
- Street-Level Youth Media
- Video Machete
- Young Chicago Authors
