Phyllis McGibbon
April 14 - May 8, 2009
As Anchor's first resident artist of 2009, Phyllis McGibbon created a series of photo based prints that continued her recent work with collaged postcards. Contained within a suitcase, this set of modified souvenirs acts as a visual essay prompting questions about place, space, global interdependence, and the legacy of the grand tour. Postcard, artist, and viewer adopt the positions of time traveler, migrant worker, and tourist object who's meanings shift dramatically depending on when and where they are encountered.
