Joel Feldman

August 4 - 30, 2008

Joel Feldman was in the shop for most of August 2008 as part of our residency program creating a series of etchings that continue the themes of pen and ink drawings he has worked on over the past 2 years. In these images ramshackle robots build and destroy, wreaking havoc on their surroundings, while others squabble and fight, destroying the objects of their conflict in the process. Feldman’s work engages in social and political allegory, often in regards to human intervention in the natural world and our consumption of the environment, and acknowledges that there are no easy answers to many of today’s most pressing problems. Instead these images intend to pose open-ended questions and offer a glimpse at the possible future of current human behavior.
