Before starting at Columbia College in 2003, Jim established and ran an independent not-for-profit gallery space, managed nights at the House of Blues in Chicago, and was a professional model maker and designer at a model-making firm in downtown Chicago. As Studio Arts, Shops and Labs Manager (as well as a Part-time Fine Art and Foundations Faculty member) Jim enjoys the day-to-day interaction with students, staff and faculty within the fabrication facilities and is always eager to help out and throw a solution or two at any problem. Jim is constantly working on his own practice, is happy to talk about it, and exhibits frequently. In his spare time he enjoys drinking a cup of coffee while it's still warm, not wearing safety glasses, fishing and reading.
