A+D Student Recognition
On October 23, Kay Hartmann, Associate Professor of Graphic Design, made a presentation about her information design students' project for a streetscape plan to the New Buffalo Business Improvement District Group. The class worked with research from the landscape architectural firm, LAP. The final project included a kiosk, digital displays, fixed signs, and banners and street furniture covering three blocks and the beach. The New Buffalo Times ran a story about the project. The students involved are: Andrew Lynch, Josh Ulrich, Jeff Harvey, Rogelio Zamudio, Anna Felger, Sara Kopke, Ruby Rivas, Mellisa Stankaitis, Lovietta Simpkins, Dave Folley, Andrew Castro, and Jessica Gaitskill.
Product Design graduate Dan Koentopp is the proprietor of DK Custom Guitars. He started his own company developing custom made guitars using traditional hand luthier techniques combined with industrial design. One of his guitars was recently played by luminary Andy Brown. Exhibitions + Openings
The exhibition "Dis/Believer: Intersections of Science and Religion in Contemporary Art," at the Glass Curtain Gallery, November 16 through February 13, features the work of A+D faculty. Works by Industry of the Ordinary (A+D faculty Adam Brooks and Mat Wilson) and Compassionate Action Enterprises (Joan Giroux with collaborator Lisa Kaftori) are included in the show. Several A+D students participated in the opening reception performance with Industry of the Ordinary on Thursday, November 19.
Adam Brooks, Associate Professor of Fine Art, has an exhibition titled “Twice Told Tales” at Tropo Mfg in Southern California, running November 13–December 12.
Laura Davis, adjunct faculty in Fine Art, has her first solo exhibit at the Palmer Gallery. The exhibition opens Friday, November 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Annika Marie, Assistant Professor of Art History, has co-curated an exhibition with Michelle Grabner titled "Picturing the Studio" which opens in December at Sullivan Galleries at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The exhibition is the cover feature of the November 2009 issue of CAA News, the newsletter of the College Art Association.

Corey Postiglione, Associate Professor of Fine Art and Art History, is having a solo exhibition of his new paintings at the Thomas Masters' Gallery from November 20–December 20.
