Fashion Design - CAD
CAD (Computer Aided Design) is a vital and rapidly growing aspect of the fashion design industry. The Columbia College Fashion Design Department offers its students a state-of-the-art CAD classroom and lab facility. It features Lectra Systems software which is used in apparel manufacturing and design companies throughout the world for textile design, marketing presentations, pattern creation/alteration and marker making.
CURRENT CAD COURSES
CAD FOR FASHION DESIGN 22-3640
This course provides an overview of CAD technology as applied to apparel production techniques. "Hands on" participation will enable students to apply previously attained manual patternmaking skills to create and alter pattern designs, grade patterns and produce pattern markers using the computer.

CAD: FASHION PRESENTATION 22-3641
This course explores the use of computer technology as a means of achieving professional fashion presentations. Areas of study include format and textile design, color development, fabric and textile application and collection presentation. Basic elements of art and design with emphasis on color are used as a basis for student presentations.

ADOBE CREATIVE STRATEGIES 22-3645
This course will cover Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Techniques specifically tailored to the fashion industry. Students will transform hand drawn sketches into computer generated flats and with the use of Photoshop be able to create presentation and trend boards using their illustrations and flats.nal senior thesis presentation.
