Digital Audio Production Space (DAPL)

Teaching and lab setting for AA&A students at the early stages of their learning in our Department, as well as any Columbia College student who wishes to learn the basics of audio recording, editing, and mixing. There are fourteen production stations, each including a Macintosh G4 running Pro Tools LE software with a Digidesign 002 interface.

Courses taught in this room use Pro Tools mainly as a multi-track device, with the students being able to also manually route all signals thru a patch-bay and a 16-channel Midas Venice analog console. There is also a small voice-over booth to accommodate voice recordings, as well as hand-held recorders for "sound gathering" exercises.
