Career Resources
Columbia College Chicago provides a wealth of resources to students for career preparation including Career Development Specialists and the Portfolio Center. Each of these can provide you with resources and services that would cost you hundreds if not thousands of dollars in the market.
Although Audio Arts & Acoustics students may not technically have the same kind of "portfolio" that Film, Fashion or Photography students do, everyone needs business cards, a résumé, a personal website and, possibly, practice on interview techniques. And, if you do have a portfolio of your work on a CD or DVD, you can also get help designing a printed label or slip sheet for free!
Do you need to develop a résumé or brush up one that you have? Do you know what needs to go into a cover letter and how to customize it for each potential employer? Would you like to engage in a mock interview with a gentle but brutally honest professional?
Career development goes hand in hand with academic development. That's why the Career Development Center makes available a 4-year planning tool. Getting into the job market is easy. Getting out of it by landing a satisfying position is not. Don't wait until graduation looms!
