MK Czerwiec is the artist-in-residence at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine where she developed and teaches a seminar on comics in medicine to first and second year medical students. MK has a BA in English and Philosophy and a BSN in nursing. Her clinical nursing experience is in AIDS care and hospice care. Her MA is in Medical Humanities and Bioethics, with a concentration on narrative in medicine. She has been making comics under the pseudonym Comic Nurse since 2000. (www.comicnurse.com) She co-runs the website GraphicMedicine.org, which explores the intersection between the medium of comics and the discourse of medicine. She is on the organizing committed for the annual International Comics & Medicine conferences, and in the editorial collective for the Penn State University Press Graphic Medicine book series. MK also coordinates the Chicago chapter of London's monthly salon Laydeez do Comics. She is currently working on her first graphic novel, the working title of which is Taking Turns: A Careography.
