Story Week Festival of Writers
Story Week Festival of Writers is an annual week-long series of readings, conversations, and panel discussions that celebrates the power of story. Festival participants are Columbia's own students and fiction writing faculty, as well as authors and members of the publishing industry from all over the world. Past participants include Sherman Alexie, Dorothy Allison, A. Manette Ansay, Edwidge Danticat, Don De Grazia, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Jane Hamilton, Charles Johnson, Joe Meno, Bharati Mukherjee, Richard Price, Hubert Selby Jr., April Sinclair, Irvine Welsh, John Edgar Wideman, and many others. Creative Nonfiction Week
Creative Nonfiction Week is an annual collaboration among the Creative Writing and Journalism departments at Columbia College Chicago. The goal is to bring audiences a range of voices, familiar and new, renowned and emerging, all helping to define and redefine the genre of creative nonfiction. The five-day event offers readings and panel discussions from internationally recognized authors such as Jamaica Kincaid, Art Spiegelman, Alex Kotlowitz, Joanna Frueh, and others.

Columbia Poetry and Nonfiction Reading Series
The Department of Creative Writing hosts a nationally visible annual Reading Series. Renowned poets and writers who have recently read include Bernadette Mayer, John D'Agata, Carmen Giménez Smith, Peter Gizzi, Mary Ruefle, Elaine Equi, Julie Carr, Ed Roberson, Rusty Morrison, Charles D'Ambrosio, George Kalamaras, Kate Zambreno, Dinty Moore, Lia Purpura, Amy Gerstler, Kate Greenstreet, and many more.
