Kristina Fluty, Master of Arts (MA), Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling, Columbia College Chicago; Graduate Laban Certificate in Movement Analysis (GL-CMA), Columbia College Chicago, Illinois.
Kristina is an adjunct faculty member of the Department of Creative Arts Therapies (DCAT), teaching observation and assessment of movement coursework in the MA department and various sections in the GL-CMA program.
Kristina is in her ninth year as a movement collaborator with Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak, and has been honored to work with many other talented choreographers in Chicago, New York, and Nashville. Her BA in Dance is from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA, where she frequently returns to teach and choreograph. From 2005 to 2011, she was also an adjunct faculty member at The University of Chicago.
In addition to teaching various levels of dance throughout Chicago for many renowned professional dance companies and through independent classes and workshops, Kristina currently works with individual professional artists and companies in the facilitation, support, and research of the personal creative process. In complement to the framework of Laban/Bartenieff studies, her influences include the Feldenkrais Method, Body-Mind Centering, Authentic Movement, Continuum, and Contact Improvisation. Other influential training includes two years at the Trisha Brown Dance Studio and with many downtown NYC dance artists such as David Dorfman, Miguel Gutierrez, and K.J. Holmes.
