Susan Budde

Susan Budde, MEd, is a lecturer in the Early Childhood Education program in the Education Department at Columbia College Chicago, where she teaches core courses for the Head Start BA Completion Program. 

Ms. Budde holds an MEd in Early Childhood Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago (1987) and a BA in Urban Ethnics from Loyola University, Chicago (1974). She developed the curriculum for several courses comprising the Head Start program when it began in 2009. When the Early Childhood Education program ended its collaboration with Erikson Institute in 2003, Ms. Budee assisted Dr. Carol Ann Stowe, then Director of the ECE program, in redesigning the program to incorporate theReggio Emilia Approach to the curriculum.

In addition to her positions in the Education Department at Columbia College Chicago, Ms. Budde owned and operated SLB Collaborations, a consulting business (2000-2009). Through that business, she offered workshops and consultations in early childhood education with a focus on the Reggio Emilia Approach.

Ms. Budde has extensive experience in teaching and professional development, including her position as Education Coordinator at Chicago Commons (1994-2000) and as an adjunct faculty member at Oakton Community College (1992-2000). She is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (since 1985), the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (since 2002), and she has served as a board member for the Golden Corridor Association for the Education of Young Children (2000-2005).
