Summary
Carefully crafted syllabi incorporate clinical experiences beginning with the first course of study. Clinical experiences are scaffolded to ensure that candidates grow from novices to self-sufficient educators. Mentoring is provided in accordance with candidate needs. Clinical experiences emphasize the conceptual framework elements of planning (Choreographers of Instruction), creating an environment for student learning (Designers of Learning Environments), teaching for student learning (Production Managers of Learning Experiences), and teacher professionalism (Professional Educators).Self-reflection is embedded in each course and in each lesson plan that candidates create. Rubrics provide a means for objective feedback on lesson plans, assessment of student work (TWS), and evaluation of the teacher portfolio. Successful candidates exit the program with confidence that their dispositions, knowledge, skills, and growth plans will make them creative leaders.
