Summary

Diversity focused course work and workshops; clinical experiences in a variety of socioeconomic, ethnic, and bilingual/ESL settings; opportunities for study in Italy or Mexico; use of the 4Mat System to address different learning styles; the differentiated learning component of the lesson planning template; and the location of our campus in the heart of Chicago all contribute to our candidates’ abilities to identify and provide for diversity in their classrooms. Although efforts are ongoing to maintain faculty and staff diversity at the unit level, gender diversity is still a challenge.
