Audrey Qween Wicks is fondly known by colleagues, family, and friends, as Qween. She is a professional (equity) actor, author, playwright, and transformational educator having designed arts blended workshops accompanied by intensive writing components for CPS and Charter Schools programs, for the Center of Community Arts Partnerships (CCAP), and Chicago State University.
Qween has traveled the world as a performer, and earned numerous awards including a ‘Jeff’ for best actress in a play or revue (1998). She has published numerous short stories, and articles. Her first novel, In the Shade of Time, was published in 2005; and an adult soap-opera, Love By Any Other Name, was staged at the Black Ensemble Theater, August of 2009 with great revues.
Qween has a MFA/MA, degrees in Fiction from Columbia College, and has taught senior seminar. She is currently teaching Writing & Rhetoric, and Oral Expression at the English Department, and Culture, Race, and Media at the Television Department. Her study on African Women was presented at Northeastern Illinois University April, 2008, will be published in ERIC education journal.
Qween is a doctoral candidate, at Argosy University Chicago, preparing to conduct a study about Multiple Intelligences Andragogy in Higher Education in 2010; this will earn her a degree in Educational Leadership, with a concentration in higher education. Her goal is to empower teachers to identify and develop student’s individual learning styles. This will creatively produce higher student learning outcomes.
Qween is happily married to her best friend, and is the proud Mama2 of ten grandchildren, and eight greats.
