Danielle Aquiline

Lecturer

Danielle received her BA in English Literature from the University of Tennessee and her MFA in Poetry from Columbia College. She has been teaching at Columbia since 2005 and is a lecturer in the English Department, where she teaches mostly First-Year Writing courses.  She also serves on the First-Year Seminar teaching academy and teaches FYS once each year. In addition to teaching during the regular school year, Danielle is also the faculty coordinator for the summer Bridge program.

When she isn’t in the classroom, Danielle spends most of her time in the LAS Dean’s office. Originally, she served as Dr. Deborah H. Holdstein’s editorial assistant for College Composition and Communication—the flagship journal in composition and rhetoric. Currently, she is working as Dean Holdstein’s research assistant.

Danielle recently had an article, co-authored with Pegeen Reichert Powell, published in Open Words: Access and English Studies. Her poetry can be found in such publications as Gulf Stream, Court Green, Yemassee, RHINO, Bellingham Review, DIAGRAM, and Gay & Lesbian Review Worldwide. She has also been co-writing a series of food essays—entitled Amuse Bouche— for the Windy City Times.

In her time outside of Columbia, Danielle enjoys all things food, traveling, photography and spending time with her furry menagerie (two rabbits, two rats and two kitties).
