Jean Petrolle
Literature, First Year Writing
Jean Petrolle, Ph.D. is co-editor with Virginia Wexman of the essay collection Women and Experimental Filmmaking (University of Illinois 2005). She has published articles and essays about post-1960s literature and film in such scholarly and literary journals as Journal of Modern Greek Studies, Quarterly Review of Film and Video, Image: A Journal of Art and Religion, and Calyx. She has also contributed essays and articles to a variety of anthologies covering a range of subjects including contemporary women's literature, film, and the teaching of writing. She makes presentations regularly at national conferences about film, literature, popular culture, and the teaching of writing. Her varied intellectual and scholarly interests revolve around the interplay of religion and spirituality with post-60s literature and visual culture. She is equally interested in pedagogy: a substantial portion of her published and presented work explores the interconnection of spirituality with teaching and learning. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
