Janel Landon is a communications consultant dealing in public affairs. Her company, JWL Consultants, was started in 1992. Clients rely on her firm when in need of developing communication strategies for media outreach on issues and campaigns.

With nearly a decade of broadcasting experience, Janel created and produced Women Today. The live WLUP-AM talk show attracted women who tuned-in to hear guests discuss all kinds of issues affecting their livelihoods and lifestyles. Money matters, child support, jobs, health issues, and current events were topics talked about on Women Today. Experts, business leaders, law makers and a call-in listening audience contributed to the show’s dialogue. Janel received the first Mercedes Benz Mentor Award for her role in hosting the program.

As a founding member and past president of the National Association of Women Business Owners, Janel has been a driving force behind Illinois women in business. Her efforts have gained her recognition as the SBA’s “Illinois Women in Business Advocate” and “Illinois Exporter of the Year” for her involvement promoting women entrepreneurship. She was also appointed to the U.S. Commerce Department’s Advisory Committee on Small & Minority Business for Trade Policy Matters.

Janel received her Master of Arts degree from New York’s Marist College, School of Communications. A Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications was acquired from North Park University.
