Director of Technology for LAS

Jeff SchiffJeff Schiff has taught at Columbia since 1987. He took his Ph.D. in English (with concentrations in Poetry, Poetics, and American Literature) at SUNY Binghamton (now Binghamton University) in 1983. He studied with Anthony Piccione, William Heyen, and Raymond Carver. Since, he has taught writing, literature, and oral communications at McNeese State University, Purdue University, and Northern Arizona University.

Jeff Schiff is author of Anywhere in this Country (Mammoth books), The Homily of Infinitude (Pennsylvania Review Press), The Rats of Patzcuaro (Poetry Link), Resources for Writing About Literature (HarperCollins), and Burro Heart (Mammoth Press). His poetry and prose have also appeared in numerous periodicals--including Grand Street, The Ohio Review, Poet & Critic, The Louisville Review, Tendril, Pembroke Magazine, Carolina Review, Chicago Review, Hawaii Review, Southern Humanities Review, River City, Indiana Review, and The Southwest Review.

During his tenure at Columbia, Jeff has also served as College-wide Graduate/Undergraduate Coordinator of Outcomes Assessment, Director of Technology for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Coordinator of Technology in English, Assistant English Department Chairperson, and Director of the Composition program. Jeff teaches such courses as Introduction to Poetry, Contemporary American Poetry, and Advanced Literature Seminar.
