Michele has been teaching speech classes at Columbia College since 1987. She has Master’s degrees in both Social Work and in Continuing Education. One of her specialty areas is in working with those affected by cancer. She has conducted numerous personal and professional development workshops, taught in many college credit and non credit programs and has had over 20 articles published. Currently she is starting a life story book writing business and a small publishing company.
In addition, she studies voice and sings with the Soul Ensemble and the Beatles Ensemble at the Old Town School of Folk Music.
She is also a watercolorist who sells paintings and pins of her artwork and is trying to break into the greeting card and giftware markets.
She encourages her students to use their speaking skills in all aspects of their personal and professional lives and regularly report back on how they have done so. The class is very experientially based. Most weeks the students are required to give speeches and there is great focus on peer feedback.
