Rachel Royle
First Year Writing
Hailing from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, UK, Rachel Royle began teaching in the English Department in 2007. She also serves as Columbia College’s Advisor for Radio & Television students. Before coming to Chicago, Rachel worked as a Reporter and Producer for Radio, specializing in International News and Current Affairs. For three years, she hosted a daily Magazine program, broadcasting worldwide from Quito, Ecuador. Rachel’s particular interest and professional experience lies in On-location reporting and Radio documentary features.
After gaining a First Class honors joint degree in Film & Media Studies and English Literature, from Stirling University, Scotland, Rachel began full-time work in Broadcasting, which took her through a number of countries and cultures. She arrived in the United States in 2003, to work as a Radio Producer and complete her Masters Degree in Intercultural Studies. Before coming to the College Advising Center she taught English and Career & Portfolio courses at a local college. Rachel continues to enjoy working part-time in Radio as a Producer and co-host for a Chicago FM station. In her new vocation as adjunct faculty, Rachel hopes to help students explore other cultures and worldviews through Ethnographic Research and Writing.
