Poetry & Literature

Becca Klaver is Assistant Programs Director of Literature and Poetry, and also teaches introductory poetry workshops and literature courses.

Her teaching experience includes work as an AmeriCorps*VISTA; as a full-time teacher at Wisconsin's only all-girls middle school, located in a low-income neighborhood in Milwaukee; as a poet-in-residence at Solomon Elementary for the Chicago Poetry Center's Hands on Stanzas program; and as a Composition Graduate Student Instructor at Columbia.

Becca is a graduate of the University of Southern California (English-Creative Writing, with minors in Gender Studies and Spanish and extensive coursework in screenwriting) and of Columbia College's Poetry MFA program. With two of her classmates, Brandi Homan and Hanna Andrews, she founded Switchback Books, a feminist poetry press, in 2006.

With Arielle Greenberg, she's editing an anthology of poetry for teenage girls.  She currently writes the upcoming readings listings for PoetryFoundation.org, and has poems in recent or forthcoming issues of Coconut, MiPoesias, Avatar Review, and H_NGM_N.
