Renee HansenRenee Lynn Hansen received an Illinois Arts Council Award in drama, and her novel, Take Me to the Underground, was published by Crossing Press. Her short stories have been anthologized in Short, Short Stories by Women and Reclaiming the Heartland and have appeared in Hawaii Review, Voices in Italian Americana, Talking River Review, Christopher Street and Gay Windows magazines. She has served as an editor for Columbia College's nonfiction publication, South Loop Review, and as a reader for River Oak Review. Recipient of a Columbia College Provost's mini-grant award for study of the spiral as it manifests across cultures and disciplines in 2001, she is currently working on a collection of short stories as well as a series of creative nonfiction articles.

Renee teaches a variety of courses, including Creative Nonfiction I and II in the Professional Writing Program, as well as Introduction to Women's Literature, Contemporary Women Writers and others. She coordinated the Introduction to Literature program from spring 2000 through spring 2003.
