English as an Additional Language (EAL)
The EAL program provides specialized sections of college-level writing, reading, and public speaking courses to students with home/heritage languages other than English.

First-Year Writing
The First-Year Writing program offers courses in academic and professional writing with an eye toward student interests. Many of our classes (such as Writing and Rhetoric I and II) fulfill LAS Core requirements.

Literature (Minor)
The Literature program offers courses representing a multiplicity of literary and critical interests for students from every discipline. The courses fulfill requirements for the LAS Core, the majors in Creative Writing and Cultural Studies, and the minor in Literature.

Oral Expression
This program helps students develop their oral communication skills. Courses fulfill LAS Core requirements.

Professional Writing (Minor)
The Professional Writing program provides a broad and interdisciplinary approach to writing that yields skills marketable across a wide range of professions and occupations. Students may take courses as electives or to fulfill requirements for minors.
