**Sample Three-Year Plan**

*SAMPLE THREE-YEAR PLAN, MFA in CREATIVE WRITING-NONFICTION

Updated 7/11/12

*In order to complete the program in three years with the intention of reserving the third year for thesis courses only, students must take one semester of four classes within the first two years. Alternately and in order to avoid a semester of four courses, students may decide to take a third, non-thesis course in the fall of their third year. Also note, when enrolled in thesis courses (52-6920 &/or 52-6930), students are automatically coded as being at full-time status.

Year One:

Fall Semester:

                                1) Workshop (52-6900)

                                2) History of the Essay (52-6940)

                                3) Literature (52-6690) -or- *Elective

*If students are planning to participate in the Graduate Student Instructorship (GSI) Program, they must enroll in Composition Theory and Praxis their first semester; therefore, Comp Theory & Praxis would count toward one of the two required electives.
