Creative Writing - Nonfiction
. . . offers courses where each student searches for their distinct voice by writing personal essays, prose poetry, pieces of memoir, biographical sketches, and works that combine genres.

Creative Writing - Poetry
. . . helps students develop their poetry writing skills and gain a greater creative, critical, and aesthetic understanding of their discipline.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

. . . provides specialized sections of college-level writing, reading, and public speaking courses to students with home/heritage languages other than English. We also offer a non-credit, Summer Intensive English Language Institute.

First Year Writing
. . .offers courses in academic and professional writing with an eye toward student interests. Many of our classes (such as Writing and Rhetoric I and II) fulfill LAS Core requirements.

Literature

. . . offers courses representing a multiplicity of literary and critical interests for students from every discipline; the courses fulfill requirements for the LAS Core, the majors in Poetry and Cultural Studies, and the minor in Literature.

Oral Expression

. . . helps students develop their oral communication skills; courses fulfill LAS core requirements.

Professional Writing

. . . provides a broad and interdisciplinary approach to writing that yields skills marketable across a wide range of professions and occupations. Students may take courses as electives or to fulfill requirements for minors.
