Presses and Magazines
Former and current students have founded or worked for several publishing ventures, including allwritethen, dancing girl press, House Press, Phantom Limb Press, Switchback Books, Tammy, Wave Books, wicked alice, and more.




   OTHER HONORS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

Graduates of the Columbia College BA and MFA Creative Writing--Poetry programs have gone on to establish national reputations. Graduates include Elaine Equi, who was on the International Shortlist for the 2008 Griffin Poetry Prize for Ripple Effect: New and Selected Poems, and Connie Deanovich, winner of a coveted Whiting Prize of $30,000 and author of Watusi Titanic and Zombie Jet. Mary Jo Bang, who served as student editor of Columbia Poetry Review no. 6 while a student here, won the 2008 National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry for Elegy. Two MFA students, Ian Harris and Hanna Andrews, have been finalists for the Poetry Foundation’s Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship.
