Arti Sandhu studied Fashion Design at N.I.F.T. (New Delhi) and received her Master’s Degree in Fashion and Textile Design from Nottingham Trent University (U.K.). She has taught Fashion Design in New Zealand and the US. Her areas of teaching include: fashion design development, illustration, fashion history and theory and experimental design processes. She recently curated Zero Waste: Fashion Re-Patterned, an exhibition that links to her teaching on sustainable fashion design for the A+D Gallery at Columbia College Chicago. Her artworks, which explore identity and migration, have been exhibited in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, the Netherlands and India. At Columbia College Chicago, Arti continues to pursue research and creative practice around Indian fashion plus global and local identity. She has presented her research at national and international conferences and is currently writing a book on Indian fashion and style, to be published by Berg Publishers, Oxford. Arti was born and raised in India.
