Fashion Apparel Technician
Joanna is an alumni of Columbia College Chicago. After graduating she started Gavrilos Designs and created one-of-a kind bridal and bridesmaids gowns, veils, headpieces. She also held management positions at Nordstrom, Ann Taylor and Brooks Brothers. During her time in retail she was credited with top sales person, increasing departmental sales and initiating a new waistband design to reduce tailoring costs company wide. Joanna has led multiple company start-ups the most recent of which was Yiana Apparel, a women’s denim line. She has experienced the complete product development life cycle as well as the financial and operational aspect of a fashion business and has collaborated with companies both in the US and abroad. Her goal at Columbia is to create a real world environment in which students can experience what they will encounter as they enter the fashion industry workforce.
