Core Curriculum

Students entering in the 2009-2010 academic year (or later) must complete the 16 credit hour Foundations in Film & Video sequence. Go here for more information.

Students entering the program in the 2008-2009 academic year may elect to take the new curriculum.  For more information contact your Academic Advisor or Margie Barrett, Manager of Academic Services mbarrett@colum.edu

The Core Curriculum (for students entering in the 2008-2009 academic year or earlier): A total of 24 credit hours required of all Film and Video Majors regardless of whether or not a student declares a concentration:

24-1700 Development & Preproduction  "C" or better required for courses specifying Development and Preproduction as a prerequisite.

24-1500 History of Cinema  "C" or better required for courses specifying History of Cinema as a prerequisite.

24-1510 Aesthetics of Film & Video  "C" or better required for courses specifying Aesthetics of Film & Video as a prerequisite.

24-1710 Screenwriting I  "B" or better required for courses specifying Screenwriting I as a prerequisite.

24-1010 Production I  "C" or better required for courses specifying Production I as a prerequisite.

24-1020 Production II  "C" or better required for courses specifying Production II as a prerequisite.
