Practicum

The Columbia College Chicago Film & Video Department's Advanced Practicum is a unique educational structure that models above-the-line led collaborative professional practice to yield completed films ready for exhibition and distribution. The Practicum was started by Department Chair Bruce Sheridan as a single semester partnership between one advanced cinematography course and one advanced producing course. Each cycle now runs over three consecutive semesters - Fall, Spring & Summer - and involves advanced Film & Video classes in Screenwriting, Producing, Directing, Cinematography, Location Sound, Production Design, Editing, and Post-Production Audio plus input from Art + Design Department and Arts, Entertainment Media Management Department students, who contribute illustration and wardrobe expertise respectively.
