Internships

The Film & Video Department offers and extensive Internship program that is focused on learning in a professional
context rather than merely observing professional from a distance. We known throughout the industry for providing excellently prepared students who have good technical grounding, a strong work ethic and a well developed understanding of the interdependency of creative aims and the specialized film crafts. All interns are enrolled for credit. The start date for most internships is flexible.

How to qualify:

You are eligible for an internship for credit if the following requirements are met:

• The Film & Video core/foundations requirements are complete;
• A GPA of 3.0;
• Transfer students must also complete 2 full semesters at Columbia.
  
  

When you have met the criteria to qualify for an internship in the Film & Video department, contact Internship and Industry Relations Coordinator Lyn Pusztai for an initial meeting. This appointment begins an ongoing relationship to establish a path for each student based on area of interest, college career, and projected timetable for graduation. Opportunities are available and encouraged in Chicago, LA, New York, Toronto and other cities as well as international locations, depending on where you choose to live after graduation. Lyn maintains the Film Careers Listserv and works with the Semester in LA program.

Establishing this relationship ensures that both you and the employer are qualified for the internship. Meeting with Lyn will provide you with resources to find current opportunities and begin a search from a base of knowledge.
