Creative Nonfiction

Columbia College Chicago’s MFA in Nonfiction features an intensive study of nonfiction writing and the theory of nonfiction in a urban campus with access toChicago ’s lively cultural
scene. Thesis seminars and one-on-one
advising will help students complete the program with a book-length manuscript
of publishable quality. Students will
also have the opportunity to work as readers or editors on the Nonfiction
Program’s nationally distributed literary magazines.
Students in the Creative Nonfiction Program
at Columbia College Chicago experience a variety of workshops, reading
classes, genre classes, and many others.
Each student searches for a distinct voice by writing personal essays, prose poetry, pieces of memoir, biographical sketches, and hybrid works that combine genres. Both in class and out, our students work closely with writers who have published books and individual works in many forms, and have extensive experience as teachers and editors.
