Daniela Vela Jurado
Daniela Vela Jurado Saeedi is a full-time Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences at Columbia College Chicago.
Daniela is originally from Quito, Ecuador, and is currently working on her PhD from University of Illinois in Chicago in Hispanic Studies. She holds a M.A. in Spanish Literature and a B.A in International Studies, Italian Literature, and Spanish Literature from Loyola University Chicago. She also has a B.A. in Music from the National Conservatory of Music, with a specialization in Piano. She has taught Italian and Spanish at Loyola University Chicago, Italidea, and Instituto Cervantes of Chicago.
Daniela teaches courses in all levels of Spanish. This semester she will be teaching Spanish II: Language and Culture; Spanish III: Language and Culture; and Spanish IV: Conversational Spanish. She has previously taught all levels of Spanish including legal and medical Spanish.
Her research focuses on contemporary Latin America- especially literature and film. Daniela is currently working on publishing a compilation of unpublished works by Ecuadorian Poet Miguel Angel Zambrano.
Aside from her research and studies, Daniela is interested in photography and traveling. She has studied abroad three times, in Italy, Spain and Mexico City. She has served as a teachers assistant for a study abroad program in the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain.
Daniela is married to attorney Daniel R. Saeedi, and they live in Lakeview, Chicago.
