Fellowship Program
Since 2006, the Fellowship Program at the Institute has created opportunities and spaces for new voices and research, and continues to offer a platform for cutting-edge work and ideas. The Fellowship Program supports the research, development, and dissemination/production of new creative and scholarly work. The Institute helps create workshops, individual and institutional collaborations, academic, creative, and scholarly research as well as public programming and engaged educational opportunities. Recipients contribute to the College's goal in engaging in and creating academic and scholarly work in addition to artistic production by expanding learning opportunities for students and faculty through complimentary lectures, workshops, and roundtable discussions. Fellows include College faculty and students, as well as externally based artists, scholars, and field leaders.
The success of the first year of this program resulted in the Goodman Theatre proposal for The Institute/Goodman Theatre Fellowship, a unique partnership supporting playwrights of color. As part of the robust Fellowship program, this initiative, begun in Spring 2007, creates opportunities for diverse voices and offers a platform for cutting-edge work and ideas by playwrights of color. It is central to both the Institute and the Goodman Theatre's vision of and commitment to supporting creative excellence and the widest range of voices.
