Undergraduate Program
All Majors complete a core curriculum of 18 credits that includes courses in writing and reporting, grammar for journalists, copy editing, media law and ethics and new media. In addition, students select from four concentrations: News Reporting and Writing, Magazine Writing and Editing, Broadcast Journalism (Television or Radio) and Science Journalism.
The concentrations provide a rich array of specialized courses that prepare students for careers in print, online and broadcast news media, as well as newsletters, magazines and electronic publishing. Many minors are available in the college, among them web design, and students may create their own interdisciplinary major.

Broadcast Journalism is an interdisciplinary program. Students may specialize in either radio or television. |

News Reporting and Writing focuses on public affairs journalism. Advanced students study investigative, interpretive, entertainment and sports reporting, among other choices. Students may select a sports emphasis. |

The Magazine Program is designed to prepare students for a variety of editorial positions on consumer or trade magazines. |

SCIENCE JOURNALISM Science Journalism, taught in conjunction with the Science and Mathematics Department, addresses a growing need for journalists who can bridge the gap between the medical/scientific community and the general public. |
