Oral History Award
This award is given to the student who is best able to demonstrate a creative application and presentation of work in oral history. Past submissions include documentaries, computer manipulated photographic images with text, and a video news piece. Submissions should include a one-page written description.
Political Cartoon Contest
The Paula Pfeffer and Cheryl Johnson-Odim Political Cartoon Contest for Columbia College Chicago Students is an annual event sponsored by the Liberal Educations Department in collaboration with the Departments of Art and Design, Journalism, and the Columbia Chronicle. The contest offers 6 monetary rewards: three for multiple panel and three for single panel cartoons. Six judges, including a professional cartoonist, a student and three teachers, select the winning cartoons. The name of the top winner for each category is engraved on a trophy on display in the college library. All entries are exhibited in various areas of the school throughout the spring.
