Rachel Ready
Current Career
Aside from being an adjunct faculty member at Columbia College, I am a marketing and media consultant for a local dot-com start-up company that is specific to the professional sports industry (FantasyProtect.com).
What was your first “real-world” job?
My first real-world job was working at Starcom Media Services, a Division of Leo Burnett, in the media-billing department. This early opportunity led to a position as a media buyer at Starcom.
Professional Accomplishments
Developing a media plan for the Dominican Republic Tourism Board was one of my first professional accomplishments. The media plan needed to adhere to a strict budget and, to this day still attracts attention. Creating a plan that was cost effective and attractive to the client was a challenge.
Earning my master’s degree was a pivotal and fulfilling step in my professional development. Also, as an adjunct faculty member, I worked with Introduction to Media instructors to advance the course and create a template for the Strategic Media Plan Award.
What Drives Your Professional Career
The desire for self-improvement and eagerness to share in the learning of others drives my professional career. Dynamic and results-driven relationships with external business partners and students continue to foster a sense of professional and personal satisfaction.
