IMPORTANT:

The Music Department Scholarship for Continuing Students requires recommendations from your ensemble instructor, your private lesson instructor, and the director of your concentration (Composition, CUP, Instrumental Performance, Jazz Studies, Vocal Performance). If you do not have an ensemble instructor or a private lesson instructor, contact Rob Ballmaier or Mary Blinn

Ensemble Audition Dates

Ensemble auditions begin one week before classes and continue through the first week of the term.

Auditions are required for advanced placement in private lessons.

Spring auditions for department ensembles are held during the first week of classes. Since students placed in fall ensembles are supposed to remain in the same ensemble in the spring semester, auditions are held only for replacement positions. Check posted fliers for specifics.

If you feel you have the talent and experience to take private lessons but haven’t yet taken the official prerequisites for the course, you must arrange an audition with an area coordinator or private lesson instructor. If you pass the audition, you will receive authorization for advanced placement.

If you schedule an audition but are unable to attend, please cancel your appointment twenty-four hours in advance; if, without notice, you do not show up for your audition, you are prohibited from all performance opportunities for at least one semester.
