Conducted by Catherine Bolzinger, Voix de Stras’ is a vocal ensemble featuring up to 20 singers, focusing on new music by contemporary composers. Their concert programs allows the public the opportunity to discover and rediscover a wide repertoire of modern and contemporary pieces such as world premiere performances of works from François-Bernard Mâche, Christophe Bertrand, Suzanne Giraud, Andrea Manzoli, Ramon Lazkano Loïc Mallié, Luca Antignani. Voix de Strass, their first full-length recording, is a tribute to the discovery of new sounds for choral music in the XXIst century.
Catherine Bolzinger, artistic director of VOIX DE STRAS’, is the original and current chorus director of the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra and a professor at the National Music Conservatory of Strasbourg. She specializes in works of the 20th century, giving world premiere performances of compositions by Georges Aperghis, Philippe Schoeller, Ivan Solano, and Patricia Alessandrini. Ms. Bolzinger is well versed in Classical repertoire, having prepared the Strasbourg Philharmonic chorus for conductors such as Armin Jordan, Heinz Holliger, Kirill Karabits, Julia Jones or Pascal Rophé. In 2010, she was invited in Canada to conduct the chorus of the Montréal Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Kent Nagano.
In 2014, Voix de Stras’ will be on its first US tour, collaborating with a young ensemble from Chicago and Catherine Bolzinger will be featured in a choral conducting master class by Syracuse University.
