Prior to joining the Photo Department staff, Liz served as Photographic Archivist for the Wisconsin Historical Society, and as Executive Director of the Wisconsin - Nicaragua Sister State program. In Chicago she has run an independent photography business, worked on large photography commissions for the City of Chicago among others, curated exhibits and taught photography. Liz's photographic work specializes in place and the role of the individual within a broad social, political and historical sweep. Awards include an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council, a Telly Award, a National Educational Media Award and the Intercom Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and abroad. In the Photo Department, she is grateful for the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for the medium in its many forms.
