On-Air Staff

WCRX-FM is a professionally run radio station staffed by students of the Columbia College Chicago Radio Department who have taken prerequisite course work prior to working at the station.

Each semester a new group of students sign up for a semester long practicum where they meet every week to build on their training and develop their skills.

George Pira is thrilled to spend his last semester at Columbia College on-air with WCRX. When his Monday afternoon show is over, he spends the rest of the day watching horror movies with his two cats, Fred and Señor Pancake. George is allergic to shellfish. Indie Cuts

Brendan has been a fan of radio since he was a kid. He grew up listening to some of Chicago’s best DJs growing up in the suburbs. Walk past his apartment and you might hear Neil Young, The Clash or Tame Impala pumping through the speakers. Most weekend nights you can find Brendan checking out a show at one of the many venues in Chicago. My name is Myeko Burkes. I’m a 23-year-old radio major—junior status. I aspire to one day be a radio host for a top radio station. I love shopping and going out and having fun with the girls. My favorite color is red. I love pizza and can’t get enough of it. I love listening to Queen Bey, Beyoncé and hope to one day meet her on my journey to the top in the radio industry. Maggie is a Minneapolis native and lover of all things music. Growing up with a passion for public media, she knew long ago that radio was the industry for her. When she’s not on air at WCRX, you can find Maggie fueling her shopping addiction, as she has been dubbed “the fashionista” of the station.

Monica Bobbitt           Wednesday 11 a.m - 3 p.m 

Monica Denise Bobbitt was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. Since 2001, she’s been in front of the camera and on the stage as a model and actress, working with John Casablanca’s Model & Talent Management and Over Flow Ensemble Theatre Company. She studied theatre at Wilbur Wright College before transferring to the Illinois Center for Broadcasting, where she produced and co-hosted her own radio show alongside DJ Ransom. She’s also done voice over work for radio personality Trey Da Chocolate Joc’s “For the Love of Trey.” Currently Monica is modeling for Celestrial Event Models and working as a full-time supervisor at a bank.

My name is Samantha Bradley, and I’m from Homer Glen, Illinois. I’ve had my own episode of “Made” on MTV, and I have appeared on “The Nate Berkus Show,” “Let’s Ask America,” and “The Steve Harvey Show.” I’m a junior at Columbia College majoring in radio with dreams of working as an on-air DJ in the Chicagoland area. Outside of school, I hold down two part-time jobs—one at Radio Disney and the other at an automobile company. My name is Michael Undas, but you can call me Mike. I am a host at WCRX and go undercover as Prototype every Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I come from Polish descent but I was born and raised in Chicago. I have a passion for progressive rock music composition and radio broadcasting. I am a multi-instrumentalist—piano, violin, bass, drums, guitar—and a music major at Columbia College Chicago with a radio minor. Down the line, I’d like to have my own rock talk show and compose music for films. Tune in to me every Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
