WCRX Practicum

WCRX 88.1 FM Chicago is the culmination of the efforts of radio students and broadcast radio journalism majors.

The award-winning, nationally recognized station brings together a diverse group of students who have completed related coursework and are seeking to expand their knowledge in a professionally run radio station.  All Radio Majors are required to take at least on semester of the WCRX Practicum. 

Each semester students may work in one of the following areas:

• On-Air
• Production
• News/Sports

During election cycles, roughly every two years, we offer a practicum that covers election reporting and considers local, regional and national perspectives. The Covering Elections for Radio Practicum fills up very quickly and we encourage our students to apply early if they are interested in participating.
