1.) Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences:
Tenure Track Cultural Studies Faculty

The Cultural Studies Program in the Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences at Columbia College Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Cultural Studies, starting in Fall 2009. The ideal candidate should be trained in Media Studies, with research and teaching interests in at least three of the following: new media, new technologies and culture, critical studies of science and technology, and cultural studies methodologies. We are particularly interested in those candidates working in new media and one or more of the following areas: Asian cultural studies, Asian American cultural studies and Native American cultural studies. Ph.D. in cultural studies, media studies, or related field is required at time of hire. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.

Responsibilities include: full-time undergraduate teaching load (3/3), including cultural studies courses at all levels; scholarship and professional activity; student advising; and service to the College and community.

2.) Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences:
Tenure Track Position in Economics

The Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences at Columbia College Chicago invites applications for a new tenure-track position in Economics, starting in the Fall of 2009.  The ideal applicant should have teaching and research interests in at least two of the following areas: international, behavioral, resource and environmental, labor, public, or urban and regional economics; economic history, political economy, economic development, game theory, and/or industrial organizations.  We are strongly interested in someone who is able to successfully integrate qualitative and quantitative methods.  A completed Ph.D. in economics or related field is required at time of hire.  Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is also required.  The position, which entails a full-time teaching load (3/3), is located in the Department of Humanities, History, and Social Sciences, which contributes to the liberal arts core curriculum through courses in the social sciences, history, the humanities, and foreign languages.

3.) Department of Science and Mathematics:
TWO Tenure Track Positions in Mathematics
The Department of Science and Mathematics at Columbia College Chicago seeks to fill two tenure-track positions in Mathematics. The department offers a broad science and mathematics curriculum for non-majors and fosters the integration of science and mathematics with other disciplines, especially visual, media, and performing arts. 

For both positions, the Department seeks candidates with a demonstrated record of teaching excellence and an interest in teaching a variety of mathematics courses.  Faculty members are also expected to be active in scholarship and professional development and participate in College and Departmental service.  Preference will be given to candidates with an expressed interest in taking on primary responsibility for teaching and curriculum development in one of the following areas:

Pre-Calculus and Statistics:
The Department's offerings in this area includes courses in College Algebra, College Algebra with Trigonometry, and Introduction to Statistical Methods.  Candidates should emphasize their strategies for teaching Pre-Calculus and Statistics in their application materials.  Applicants for this position must reference “Pre-Calculus and Statistics” in all of their correspondence.

Liberal Arts Math:
Preference for this position will be given to applicants interested in developing and teaching a liberal arts mathematics course.  The successful candidate will be expected to be innovative in the curricular and pedagogical design of this course, with a goal of exposing students to intellectually and aesthetically interesting mathematical topics not covered in traditional curricula.  Applicants for this position must reference “Liberal Arts Math” in all of their correspondence.

A Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics is required for both positions. The start date is August 16, 2009.
