Cinema Art + Science offers an extensive Internship program that is focused on learning in a professional, "hands on" context, rather than merely observing professional from a distance. Columbia is known throughout the industry for providing high caliber students, who come prepared with excellent technical grounding, a strong work ethic and an eagerness to learn. Interns are eligible for credit under the Internship Course, if they meet the following criteria:

  • The Cinema Art + Science core/foundations requirements are complete;
  • A GPA of 3.0;
  • Transfer students must also complete 2 full semesters at Columbia.

If you are a student interested in doing an internship for credit, and you have met the criteria, contact Internship and Industry Relations Coordinator, Lyn Pusztai, to schedule an initial meeting and introduction to the internship program. The introductions are scheduled by appointment only and held in groups in her office at 1104 S. Wabash, Suite 301. The initial meeting will both establish an ongoing relationship and provide students with an understanding of the distinctions and advantages of internships for credit, volunteer work for experience/resume building and/or paid job opportunities, and what category is most appropriate for them. They will also be entered into the Film Careers Listserv upon completion of the introductory meeting, which will provide them with ongoing, current resources and opportunities in the industry, that they may immediately begin applying for.  Lyn also works closely with the Semester in LA Program.

Introductions generally last about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending upon the size of the group. The last 20 minutes of the meeting focuses on Cover Letters, Resumes, and Reference sheets, and about other resources on campus available to students to assist them in creating a professional presentation of themselves and their work.

Currently, introductions are held weekly by appointment only at the following times: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am.

And monthly on: One Wednesday a month either at 11am or 1pm.

The best method of contact is email.
