Contemporary trends in both higher education and artistic practice indicate the importance of integration across traditional boundaries of genre and form. How can Columbia College Chicago’s faculty lead this charge with trans-disciplinary strategies to enhance student learning and encourage artistic and scholarly innovation? With the theme of Trans(form): Strategies for Integrative Learning, the 2011 All-College Faculty Retreat will explore integrative learning in the arts and strategies for artistic and pedagogical innovation across disciplines.
Trans(form) Event Information
In an era of heightened fiscal responsbility within the College community, the 2011 All-College Faculty Retreat will break with the longstanding tradition of migrating to Lake Lawn Lodge in Geneva, Wisconsin, and will instead be held on campus in Chicago’s South Loop. The committee hopes that, in keeping with the theme of integration and collaborative strategies, the location will allow faculty to find new ways of working together while staying close to home. The dates of the retreat will be August 23 & 24. All full-time faculty are required to attend. Some staff members
have received an invitation or will be working the event, but this is otherwise
a full-time faculty event.

Going Green
The Columbia Recycling Program is asking our help in reducing waste on campus. We will be employing caterers that adhere to the college’s catering waste minimization and recycling guidelines. We will also be encouraging the use of reusable water bottles. Join us in supporting this initiative by bringing your own refillable water bottle to the retreat. We’ll supply the water.
